I read the substack Emily In Your Phone and learned this “As reported by Kat Vargas, the Texas legislature recently took up and did not pass a bill “to improve Texas’ disaster response, including better alert systems, along with a grant program for counties to buy new emergency communication equipment and build new infrastructure like radio towers.” The state Rep. representing Kerrville, Wes Virdell, said he’s now reconsidering his vote against the bill.” https://emilyinyourphone.substack.com/p/texas-flood-victims-deserve-better?utm_campaign=posts-open-in-app&triedRedirect=true
this is beautifully written! hi! I'm Nicole and I've been your subscriber for awhile. I got interested in your Substack because I liked the way you wrote, the recommendations you share, especially about what your kids are reading, etc. I also found out you were the UI/UX consultant for my daughter's favorite app Sago Mini World (frustrated UI/UX designer here. I can't design experiences, but I appreciate them).
it's so heart-breaking to read about the flooding in Texas. My heart goes out to the families of all those girls, and to think, usually the reason to join a camp is to learn not only to appreciate nature but to acquire nature survival skills.
Thank you for writing about this. It's so incredibly sad.

Such a tragic story. Those sweet little girls... just so heartbreaking.
