What is Making it Work?

Making it Work is a long-form personal newsletter written by Youngna Park, with musings for parents, recommendations for kids, and trying to stay sane while raising children in the modern world. I hope it makes you feel slightly more reassured about whatever kind of parent or child-adjacent person you are in this world, and feel less anxious and more able to laugh at the absurdity of being a human raising another human every day.

Primarily essays composed of observations and experiences parenting my two children, this newsletter also marries my career and interests in children’s media, well-designed stuff, nature, books, photography, and experiments in personal narrative.

What do paying subscribers get?

In addition to the every-two-weeks newsletter, paying subscribers get:

  • Access to Bonus Recs, an extra bi-weekly list of recommendations that revolve around a theme (kids, home, podcasts, recipes, books, articles, etc.)

  • Bonus content, like Q + As, guest posts, and writing experiments

  • Access to the full archives, circa 2021

More than anything that $6 month / $60 a year creates the space for me to write, synthesize ideas, collect thoughts, and share it within this mad, mad world. This was never intended to be a high volume newsletter, but a high consideration newsletter. Thank you to those who contribute.

If, for some reason, the cost is prohibitive, but you would like to subscribe, please email me with “subscription comp” in the subject line. Feel free to reach out anytime with thoughts, recommendations, or just to say hi: youngna@gmail.com.

What’s your background?

I’m a Brooklyn-based product advisor and writer who works at the intersection of technology, education, media and the arts. I’ve focused my career on building better, more thoughtful physical and digital experiences for kids / parents / families. I love a good scone, playing tennis, and hanging with my two kids.
